Kiss & Say Goodbye

This is the song playing on the car CD player as I leave the Virgin Active Health Club and I realise that in less than 1 week I will be saying goodbye to Johannesburg, my family home for nearly 10 years. And I realise just how doubly blessed I am to be moving back to my retirement home in Cape Town. Yes, I bought my retirement home before I bought my family home as I was serious about my retirement since the age of 18 :-)

And in a way, I am retired from the corporate world :-) so it is fitting to be moving to my retirement home at the age of nearly 40. Way back when I was in my 20's I told family and friends that by the age of 40 I would be retiring and running my own business. I realised this before even my 39 birthday! One cannot believe just how great this year 2010 has been. Better start writing that book soon :-)

On the flip side, most of us are exposed on a daily basis to the utter devastation and destruction happening across the globe as a result of the 'supposed' recession. Close family and friends are or have lost everything including businesses that they have built up successfully for 10+ years, their homes and in some cases their spirit and will to continue living! I pray for these people and their families that they may find hope, peace and unfaltering faith in the face of even the worst adversity as it's what makes us strong! The question is what are we as a human race are prepared to do to assist as many people as possible on this journey?

As I say goodbye to Johannesburg, closing a chapter in my book of life, I look forward to this bright new chapter filled with many opportunities and challenges. It promises to be the most rewarding ever!
